A move to Hamilton at the end of Jan 2015 has set me on a new journey. Four schools now have my CV and I am looking at broadening where I place myself once I have gained my restricted licence. It has been interesting looking at school websites to see where I would fit, and delving into their policies and looking at staff etc.
I have had a day's work at Hamilton West which I really enjoyed. It was in a year 7/8 class which I have not taught before. I went in with my own planning as I had spoken to the DP on the phone and he said there should be planning but just in case to bring my own. I went straight out on road patrol duty (nothing like being thrown in the deep end) and the day flowed smoothly from there. I am hoping to get more work at Ham West as it is only a few blocks from my house. I actually felt like I was back in London, the school was very multicultural and I could pronounce about half of the kids names at the start of the day! Very familiar territory after my years in London schools! I made sure I worked on getting the names right over the day as I believe even a simple gesture like that makes a huge difference.
Five jobs have come up for later in the year. I am currently updating my CV and will be applying for the jobs. Cross fingers! I am ready to get into it again!
